Growing up I was what most would refer to as a “tomboy” from the obsession with sports to the rejection of Barbie dolls to a full on refusal to wear dresses and anything that could be considered “girly”. Most of all I despised everything that was pink meaning anything that was the color pink (minus pigs – can’t hate something that makes bacon possible!) or had the word pink in it. Which resulted in some very interesting fashion choices.
As the years have gone by I’ve given into the fact that being a girl isn’t all that bad, I finally was ok with dresses, got my ears pierced at 23 (yes, I know it’s hard to believe, the girl at Claire’s couldn’t get past the fact that I was over 16 and getting my ears pierced for the first time either) and I’ve adopted a bit of pink into my life – but let’s not get too excited it’s still tough to find.
Anyway, all of this to say that my newest obsession completely contradicts my inherent instinct to reject all things pink. Ok, here we go…
My name is Nikki and I’m a Pinkberry addict…don’t worry I hear you all saying in response “Hi Nikki.” This addiction came out of nowhere, and to be completely honest,
I’ve always been very skeptical of the frozen yogurt and ice cream places that claim they are unique and different within the industry. But after months of my co-workers talking about this place I figured I should put my judgement aside and give it a shot. With the choice between the Newbury Street and Prudential Mall locations, I opted to take advantage of the summer weather and do the outdoor trek to Newbury.
Walking back down Newbury I couldn’t get over the enjoyment this little treat induced. I felt like telling all of the strangers I walked by to go to Pinkberry and have an amazing day! Yes, even the crazies that make Newbury St. people watching a great pastime. Knowing that my friend wouldn’t appreciate the stranger love, I tried my best to bottle up my excitement. When I got back to the office, I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I went over to my friends and told them that they were right about the mind blowing power of such a little cup of frozen goodness and apologized for my cynicism, then proceeded to do what anyone who wants to share their news would do…I posted my words of love on Facebook obviously!
I’ve been back about 3 times since this experience and always to the Newbury Street location because I don’t want to chance that the experience will be any less amazing elsewhere. But as the weather turns I will have to change my ways and opt for the indoor version in the mall. Also, I’ve added one amazing non-fruit topping to my selection – Mochi. They are little gummy toppings made from rice that add the perfect mix of texture. This addition is all due to a recommendation from my friend Kelley and I will be forever grateful!
So in signing off, I hope you are itching to get out and try your first Pinkberry treat or, for those who haven’t been living under the rock I have been, that you are ready to go and get your next treat with a little mochi on top.
Quick tip: if you become a fan of Pinkberry on Facebook they link you out to a page that will get you a free Pinkberry treat when you bring/treat a friend.
In the style of Pinkberry’s fun website, I’ll leave you with their theme song:
